Wild Fig has a few locations on Long Island, so we decided to take a short ride and eat lunch at the one located on Franklin Ave in Garden City. This was a second visit, so we knew to park in the municipal lot that is located in the rear. Street parking on Franklin Ave can be difficult and there are 5 designated handicapped spots in the lot. The double door entrance is one step up from the paved parking lot. The restrooms are located to the left as you walk into the dining area. The restroom consists of 2 stalls with floor to ceiling doors. One unit is handicapped accessible. The restaurant is spacious with flat tile floors and tables with chairs.
We like Mediterranean food and have eaten at many. We decided to share because we can have a better variety this way. One of the items we ordered was a Greek Salad. The portion was large, but practically all lettuce. There was one lone olive. It is hard to share an olive! When we asked the waiter if we could have some more olives, he said we could have a side order at an additional charge. Very disappointing. The other item we ordered was good.
As always, we at Destination:Accessible advise you to check a venue’s website, www.wildfigonline.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
