If you are anywhere in the vicinity of 1677 Middle Country Road, Ridge, don’t miss the opportunity to visit “Unique Tastes,” definitely not your typical liquor store.

This venue is the result of a dream of “friendly and caring individuals who decided to share their passion for wine and spirits with the wonderful people on Long Island.”

It is a warm and welcoming establishment where the owners not only get to know your name – they take your requests and then stock your personal favorite(s). Their website says, “We believe our customers are family, so we designed our store to be warm and inviting. Our store is one of a kind by presenting products and events in a manner that entices customers to stay and interact with each other.” I was amazed to hear how the owners did everything themselves, from the design and layout, to the painting and even the signs. It truly is a loving work of art.

It was easy to see that everyone involved is dedicated to making sure the customer is #1.

One accessible parking space is located as close as possible to the street-level double doors. Besides wine and spirits, including some non-alcholic items, they offer interesting gift items (I couldn’t resist some cute wine-stoppers and napkins.)

Although not large, one can navigate easily.

The large, single-occupancy restroom has an accessible toilet, but not sink. Hopefully, they will be able to change that soon.

Wine-tastings and other events are in the works. Check their website for more information. www.uniquetastes.com.

As always we at Destination Accessible, always advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.uniquetastes.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
