If you don’t live in the Town of Oyster Bay, you just might want to pay the parking fee for a visit to the new TOBAY Spray  Park at TOBAY Beach. This is a great venue, with several areas; one intended for younger kids, with lower features and less water pressure from the sprayers; one intended for the older set, with higher features and more powerful sprayers. Whatever your child and you choose, you will have a wonderful time. Everyone we saw seemed to be delighted with it all.  Laughter was the language of the day!

Five handicapped (van) accessible parking spaces are close to the entrance. Two steps up, or a brick ramp, lead to the fully fenced in area. Underfoot, we found soft, blue material that indicted the water area. Included in this area is a terrific playground with many featuress, including several accessible swings. From here you can walk up the six steps or use the ramp to the large picnic area. We found tables and benches that are under-cover .

There is a small snack bar and ice cream shop close to the parking lot. If you want “real food,” walk over to The Boat Yard or Surf Shack (check individual listings for these venues.)

The only downside to me is the fact that there is no restroom right here at the splash area. The closest restrooms are located at The Surf Shack. Although not far, it is still not “right there.” You will find multi-stall restrooms with a large handicapped stall and baby-changing station.

If you are running out of things to do with the kids at this point in the summer,  consider a visit. As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.oysterbaytown.com/departments/parks/beaches, to know before you go,
