The Halston (American Kitchen & Bar) is the newest restaurant at the location where Bijou and Jewel used to be. Located just off the LIE and on the main floor of a large office building, accessibility is easy. The large parking lot has six accessible spaces in front of the street-level, double door entrance.
Once inside, easy accessibility continues. There is ample space throughout, no matter where you sit. There is a really big, full-height bar. Since the bar has so many seats, It would have been nice if they had included an accessible portion. The decor is beautiful and modern, yet still, inviting. There is outdoor seating as well. The restaurant has done a nice job of separating the dining area from the parking lot, so that you do not feel as though you are sitting among the parked cars.
The website says that this a “…new and exciting concept by Anthony Scotto… with a vast array of culinary delights that are both dazzling to the eye and delectable to the pallet.” Although we cannot comment on all of offerings, the Whiskey and Truffle Burger, the Chicken Parm a la Vodka, and the Stuffed Scrimp Scampi, were all “dazzling to our eyes” and delicious as well. The Apple Crisp for dessert was also a standout! Another thing of note was how lovely the presentation of each item was.
We would be remiss if we did not mention how accommodating our server was. He made sure to check on food allergies, etc. (which one in our party has).
Large, multi-stall restrooms are located in a hallway at the back of the venue. The accessible stall is large and the sinks are accessible as well. There are no baby-changing facilities.
All in all, we had a lovely, relaxing dinner with friends at The Halston, and will definitely return.
