The Syosset Library is located at 225 South Oyster Bay Road, just off Exit 43 of the LIE. The paved parking lot has four handicapped spaces in the front of the building and four near the rear entrance.  There is a bench near the rear entrance.

Some seating is available in the lobby area by the auditorium.

Getting to one's seat in the auditorium requires going down steps.  A wheelchair area is located at the rear. If someone in your group is in a wheelchair and would like to sit in the front row a lift is available.  Please contact someone from the Library Staff.

Multi-stall, handicapped accessible restrooms, with baby-changing stations are located on the main level near the elevators.

The Syosset Library, like most libraries on Long Island, offers a wonderful variety of programming.  As Syosset residents we have taken advantage of many of the lectures and performances, which are usually available to all. This particular Sunday brought us to a delightful performance of “Scarboro Faire,” featuring the Guthrie Brothers, an entertaining 1 1/2 hours of Simon & Garfunkel songs, with some nice banter as well.

The library parking lot has four handicapped spaces in the front of the building and four near the rear entrance.  If you are going to the auditorium, try to park near the rear entrance for less walking.  If the event is not during library hours, entry is only through the rear doors.

Street level, automatic glass doors lead to the lobby area of the auditorium.  Some seating is available in this area. If you are early and the library is open, you can get a drink and snack from one of the vending machines in the “cafe” area on the main floor.  A nice touch !  The front entrance is also street level with automatic, sliding glass doors.

The auditorium has steps to get to one’s seat.  A wheelchair area is in the rear. If someone in your group is in a wheelchair and would like to sit in the front row of the theater, a lift is available.  Please contact someone from the Library Staff to assist you.

Multi-stall, handicapped accessible restrooms with baby-changing stations, are located near the elevators.  Single-occupancy, handicapped accessible, family restrooms are located on the lower level.  There is an elevator at the main entrance that will get you to the lower level.

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to check a venue’s website, www.syosset library.org, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
