The Star Playhouse, in the Suffolk JCC, (Commack), is an easily accessible venue with some great entertainment.

Parking is easy in the  large, paved, parking lot with an entire row of accessible spaces. If necessary, it is easy to drop a passenger off near the main entrance and then park. Take note that the entrance is a bit from the street.  Street-level, double doors (with an accessible push button) lead  to another set of doors and then the marble lobby of the Y. You must stop at security before going any further. The large lobby has the box office (accessible)  to the left,  and  the double door theater entrance to your right.

The theater has about 600 upholstered seats with wide, carpeted  aisles. Wheelchair and companion seating  is accommodated in the rear.

We were here to see “Frank & Barbra,” a tribute to the legendary Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand. With an unexpected, but pleasant, opening comedian, we were treated to an evening of humor, song and banter among the performers. This was a great way to spend a pre-New Year’s Eve!

Multi-stall restrooms, with accessible stalls are located in the hallway near the theater entrance. There are baby-changing facilities.

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.starplayhouse.com,  to “know before you go.”
