Friends invited us to meet them for an early dinner at Seagull Restaurant and Bar in West Babylon.  We had never been there, and had never heard of it. Always ready for dining “on the water” in summer, we were ready to go, and, as it turned out, we were very glad we went.

This “relaxed dockside eatery…serves innovative seafood selections.” We found them to be innovative and good! You can come by car, or by boat!

There is one accessible space in the paved parking lot. We discovered that there are several ways to enter – the main entrance had three steps, or ramp to the single door entry. Once inside here, you are in one of the indoor dining areas. From here, you have to walk through these dining areas to get to the deck. We found that there is another entrance from the parking lot that leads directly to the outside deck, without needing any steps, or ramp. There is yet another door leading directly to the bar.

All of the tables on the patio have water views. If you are a party of two, you can sit directly on the dock. We were happy to be under cover. There is adequate space to navigate wherever you sit.

The large, full-height bar area is down two steps from the indoor dining area. If you enter directly from the parking lot, there are no steps. This area is also where the restrooms are located. Unfortunately, the two, single-occupancy restrooms, are quite small and not accessible.

If all of this sounds somewhat complicated, that was how I felt as I navigated the venue, trying to figure out how to get to the different spots.

That being said, the food and service were definitely worth it. Our server was very nice and accommodating. Our food choices were delicious. Shrimp tacos, seagull wraps and barbecue shrimp wraps were all great! We had a delightful, relaxed meal in a relaxed atmosphere.

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.seagullrestaurantandbar.com, when planning a visit, to find out more.
