Another new restaurant has come to Woodbury, Rustic Root. Located in the Woodbury Village Shopping Center, we decided to have lunch there.  It turned out to be a very good choice! Rustic Root is considered a “farm to table” restaurant. This is a movement that promotes serving local food. Rustic Root’s menu ,”…spotlights New American cuisine with a focus on local ingredients and creative twists…” (website)

Parking in the large lot was easy.  There are a good number of handicapped spaces throughout the lot. The restaurant is tucked into a corner, but the large sign was easy to see. A street level, single door entrance led to the small entryway and then another door to the restaurant itself. We passed up sitting at one of the few outdoor tables. Entering, we couldn’t help but notice the interesting décor. The first thing that greeted us was a wall divider made of rolling pins. Although it may sound odd, it looked great!  I would describe the décor as a sort of modern rustic, with reclaimed wood tables, great pottery dinnerware, brick walls and interesting lighting. Banquets, booths, tables and chairs, are well-spaced, allowing for easy navigation.  A full-height bar is located at the back of the dining room. There is smooth flooring throughout.  A real plus for us were the very large chalkboards, showing the specials, etc.  Nice that we could easily read them from across the room.

It was then time to decide what to order. The menu offers many vegetarian and gluten free options. Of course, we had a hard time deciding!  Our server was upbeat and helpful.  She was attentive to questions about allergies and made sure that everything was to our specifications. In the end our choices were delicious. That and good coffee made our lunch a real standout.. The website says that the Rustic Root is “…intimate, inviting, casual and friendly…”  We concur. We will be happy to introduce others to this find.

Large, single-occupancy, handicapped-accessible restrooms (with baby-changing stations) are located in the hallway to the right of the bar.

As always, we at Destination Accessible advise you to check a venue’s website, http://www.rusticrootkitchen.com , when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
