We had read about “The Rolling Spring Roll,” in Newsday, and friends had suggested it to us as well, so, as we passe by on a Friday evening we decided to stop for dinner.

Located in the middle of a strip mall on Jericho Turnpike, it might be difficult to find if you don’t know exactly what you are looking for. The small, storefront venue is easy to enter, with a street-level single door, entryway and another single door into the tiled, dining room.  A variety of tables and chairs, including one long “”communal style”” table, and a small bar (full height) have ample space between them to make navigation easy and conversation pleasant.

The lovely hostess escorted us to a table and asked if we had dined with them before.  Since we had not, she proceeded to give us an overview of what they serve, took our drink orders and left us to ponder the menu.  The Rolling Spring Roll began as a Long Island Food Truck in 2012.  Its owners “…worked to bring Long Islanders fresh, healthy Vietnamese Cuisine in a friendly, casual atmosphere at an affordable price.” (website)  It was so popular that by 2013 they opened a restaurant in Farmingdale.  It was the first Vietnamese Restaurant on Long Island.  This second location soon followed.

The website says that “…no trip to The Rolling Sprig Roll” is complete without an order of Chef Bui’s signature recipe Spring Rolls.”” (website)  They are right!  We tried the pork and vegetarian versions. Both were light, crispy and delicious. Our main courses were excellent as well.  It was easy to tell that everything was fresh and made to order.  We were guided in our ordering by our very pleasant and efficient waiter.  Everyone working here seems happy and eager to please.

Two, single-occupancy, handicapped-accessible restrooms are  located in the rear of the dining area.  Both are adequate, but not large.  There are no baby-changing stations.

As we got back into our car we decided that we were lucky that they opened their second location so close to us. We will definitely be back!

As always, we at Destination Accessible advise you o check a venue’s website, www.therollingstone.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
