Description

Prime is located at 117 North New York Avenue, Huntington, NY. Valet parking is the norm.  One step is required from the parking lot to the brick sidewalk and eight steps up to the double-door entrance.  If steps are an issue, go around to the right where you will find a ramp to a single door entrance. This leads to the living room/lounge area on the main floor. The hostess area is past here.

If you are headed to the outdoor deck, you do not need to go to the main level. Walk around to the left and you can access the patio/deck and bar area without steps. There are multi-stall, handicapped accessible restrooms out here. If going to the outdoor patio/deck from indoors, there are four steps, then another five steps to reach this level.

Flooring indoors is either tile, wood or carpet. The outdoor deck area is a combination of stone and wood.  Spacing between tables inside is ample as is outside.   Eight, single-occupancy,  restrooms are located behind the glass wall in the main dining area. One is  accessible.  There is a portable baby changing station in the family restroom.

If arriving by boat, docking is available.  Call (631) 386 – 1515 to check availability.

A perfect August afternoon set the scene for a wonderful birthday celebration at  Prime.

Five accessible spaces are located on the right side of the building, where the concrete access ramp is located. If going to the main entrance, be prepared for eight steps up to the large, double door entrance. An entryway, and another set of double doors lead to the large welcome area. If you enter from the ramp and accessible, single door, you will find yourself in the lounge area.

No matter where you enter, you will find yourself in a beautiful space.  Prime is a multi-level venue with wonderful views of Huntington Harbor.

The main dining room is plush, with tables, armless chairs and banquettes.  Linen tablecloths complete the scene.  There is ample space to navigation throughout.

You can access the outdoor dining level from this main room, but it requires four steps to each descending level.  There is an outside patio level with fire pit, that is accessible from the lounge area on this main level.

If you want a table on one of the lower levels, please tell someone of your needs when making your reservation.  They will be happy to accommodate you, No matter where you sit, we think your experience will be exceptional!

Since it was such a great day, we chose to sit on the lowest deck, closest to the water, overlooking the harbor. Boat traffic, especially those tying up to come in for lunch, always provide an interesting show.

Our server was lovely, and very patient as we waited for one of our party who was stuck in traffic.  She continued to be delightful throughout our entire meal. We were able to have a relaxed, delightful afternoon!

The lunch menu is varied, with a great lunch special that was delicious – gnocchi, sushi, salads, plus crab cakes, Chicken Paillard and Salmon that were all spectacular! The dessert cheesecake topped off a fabulous experience.

Single occupancy restrooms are all located in a hallway behind the main dining room. The family (accessible) restroom is large. There is a portable baby-changing station in the accessible restroom. The only issue is that the door is quite heavy, and could be a potential problem for someone.

We could not have asked for a better birthday celebration!

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to check a venue’s website, www.restaurantprime.com, when planning a visit, to learn more.
