Platia is the Greek word for town center. In traditional villages “…platias are the cenral place for feasts, celebrations and events.” (web) “We believe the dining table is the central place for friends and family to gather over an expertly crafted meal…” (web) So it was that some friends gathered togetherbefore going off in different direcions for the remainder of the year.

As we pulled into the parking lot we found valet parking, something that many restaurants seem to have gone to, even if not really needed. From the parking lot, a ramp got everyone to the doors, entryway and another set of doors. We were welcomed into a lovely, blue and white space, wood floors, nauticl touches and, if you have ever been to Greece,  warm feelings reminiscent of Greece. Tables and banquettes are well spaced, both for navigation and conversation.

Platia’s website says,”…our kitchen creates dishes from heritage recipes and carefully selected ingredients to provide diners with an authentic tour of Greece” We can only say that each person in our group ordered something different (and with a variety of special requests). Everything arrived correctly, and was delicious. Our server was very professional and efficient. We were able to have a leisurely and delicious, evening with good friends.

Single-occupancy, handicapped-accessible restrooms are located in a small hallway in the rear of the dining room.

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit  a venue’s website, www.platia-syosset.com, when planning a visit, to know before you go,
