We have been dining at restaurants that have set up outdoor dining during this Pandemic. We generally look for venues that are on the water, or have set up interesting areas. Our visit today (7-22-20) had neither of these. We were somewhat reluctant to even stop there, but due to a number of things (none of which are important here,) we did. I can only report that we were so glad we did.

PJ’s Lobster House, is neither on the water, nor does it have an interesting outdoor dining area. We found out that the building was originally a gas station and auto repair shop. It has been locally owned and operated since 1995.

The outdoor dining area consists of several picnic tables and benches in an area of  the parking lot. Not very attractive. Not only that, one has to go inside and order a take-out meal, which was brought to our table when ready. Doesn’t sound too appealing does it? We really didn’t know what to expect as we waited. Well, it was great! The lobster lunch special was sweet and delicious, the lobster roll full of chunks of lobster with very little mayo, just the way we like it! This unexpected stop turned out to be a place we will definitely visit again, especially when we feel comfortable with indoor dining. Until then, we will be happy to sit in the parking lot and enjoy!

The paved parking lot has two handicapped (van)- accessible spaces near the street-level, double door, entrance. Take note that the entrance is from the parking lot, not from the street side. Inside you are in the fish market (which was doing a brisk business.) The entrance to the dining room is to the left. There are two, good-size, single-occupancy restrooms in the fish market. One of the restrooms is handicapped-accessible, and has a wheelchair accessible sink. We were happy to see that hand-sanitizer is available on the right wall as soon as you enter, and everyone behind the counter had masks and gloves.

As always, we at Destination:Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, http://www.pjslobsterhouse.com">www.pjslobsterhouse.com, when planning a visit, to know before you go.”
