Peters on the Green

Description

Peter's on the Green is located at 40A South Country Road in Bellport, Long Island near the ninth hole of the Bellport Country Club. The restaurant is open to the public, but check the website for hours because they change seasonally.

There is a paved parking lot. At the time of our visit, the lot was being redone so there were no demarcation lines. There is a curb cut to the sidewalk leading to the entrance which is around the side of the building. There is a slight lip between the walkway and the bottom of the double door entry.

The restaurant is not large, but the interior is spacious. There is a bar and high top and regular tables with chairs.

There are two large single-occupancy handicapped- accessible restrooms located in a corridor at the rear of the restaurant. There is a door into the corridor and then into the restroom. There is no baby changing station, but there is a chair in the ladies room.

While we were driving down South Country Road in Bellport, we were fortunate to see the words “”All are Welcome”” on the restaurant sign in front of the Bellport Country Club. We decided to drive into the paved parking lot to the side where the restaurant is located.

It is a beautiful location, the ninth hole of the golf course. There is seating both inside and out to enjoy the view.

The day we were there, the parking lot was being paved, so there were no lines. There must be designated handicapped spaces now because there is a curb cut to the sidewalk which leads around the corner to the entrance which is on the side of the building. There is a slight lip from the sidewalk to the bottom of the double door.

The restaurant is not large, but it is spacious. There is a bar at the front and both high top and standard tables with chairs.

Our dining experience was delightful. The staff was very pleasant and our waitress went out of her way to make sure we were happy. The menu is extensive and what we ordered was fresh and delicious.

The single occupancy handicapped accessible restrooms are located in a corridor at the rear. There is a door leading into the hallway and one into the large restroom. There is no baby changing station, but there is a chair in the ladies room.

The restaurant is a short distance from Gateway Playhouse, so if the times coincide, it is a lovely place to have lunch or dinner. Since the hours vary:

As always, we at Destination Accessible advise you to check a venue’s website, www.petersonthegreen.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
