Per Un Angelo @ the Jones Beach Hotel

Description

Per Un Angelo is located in the Jones Beach Hotel at 3275 Byron Street, Wantagh, NY.

There is a large, paved parking lot  with 4 (I think) handicapped spaces.

The street level entrance from the parking lot has a single door, small entryway and another door leading to a living room-like, lounge area.

Floors are wood/carpet. There is a carpeted ramp to the main dining room and another small ramp to the private dining area.

All dining areas are spacious, with ample space between tables.

There are two sets of restrooms. One set of single-occupancy restrooms is located in the private dining area. They are large enough to accommodate a wheelchair, but there are no bars. The other single-occupancy restrooms are located between the main dining room and party area. These are multi-stall and have a bar, but are too narrow to accommodate a wheelchair.

There are no baby-changing facilities.

A holiday party brought us to Per Un’Angelo, an Italian Restaurant located in the Jones Beach Hotel. Not only had we never been there we have never heard of it. The Jones Beach Hotel is not situated near the water. What’s the story?  It is an interesting one according to the maitr d’  If you are really interested you can check it out online.

Now back to the restaurant. We pulled into the paved lot. I believe there are four handicapped spaces. It was raining so hard I am just not sure.

The street level entrance from the parking lot has a single door, small entryway and another door leading to a cozy, living room-like, lounge area. A few high tables and chairs and some comfy, upholstered pieces of furniture gave a welcoming feel.

We made our way down a carpeted ramp to the main dining room We continued with another small ramp to the private dining area where our group was located. Getting through the main dining room was easy as there is lots of space between tables. Holiday decorations gave everything a festive air!

Our room was quite spacious as well. I noted what appeared to be a nice outdoor area just beyond double glass doors, but due to the weather I did not venture out.

We were a large group, with dinner served family style.  Our server was very attentive and aimed to please.  The food was exceptionally good, especially for a large group event, Seconds were readily available.

The only “problem” with this restaurant is the restrooms. When I had called to inquire I was told that they are handicapped-accessible. Be forewarned!  There are two sets of restrooms. One set is located in the private dining area. They are large enough to accommodate a wheelchair; however there are no bars and the door opens in, rather than out. The other set of restrooms is located between the main dining room and the party area.  They are multi -stall, have a bar, but are really too narrow to accommodate a wheelchair. We would suggest that if you are a wheelchair user, call ahead to discuss the situation. There are no baby-changing facilities.

As always, we at Destination Accessible advise you to check a venue’s website, www.perunangelorestaurant.com , when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
