As someone who remembers The Plainview Diner, it was difficult to believe that it was really gone. After several years it has been reimagined as Cherry Amber. The venue has been converted from a diner – updated, but still casual.  Their website says it is “…a warm and welcoming space where friends and family an come together over great food.”  It also states it is “…the best of Asian cuisine with a creative twist, offering a diverse menu that incudes sushi and sashimi, signing hibachi, savory noodles and rice dishes and more.”  

We had passed it several times in its new incarnation, but had never had the chance to experience it for ourselves.

When the opportunity presented itself, we decided to check it out for a late lunch.

There are two accessible parking spaces in the paved lot, close to the entrance ramp.  If you are using the steps, you will find four of them to the single door entrance.

Once inside the first door, there is a good size entryway and then another door to the welcome area.

We were warmly greeted and shown to a booth. From my memory, I think that the layout is pretty much the same as before. Good sized booths, tables with armless chairs and a bar (which used to be the counter), are all well-spaced for easy navigation throughout. If you have to wait, there is a nice sofa and chair near the entrance.

The menu is quite large. Even the lunch menu has many options. Being a sushi person, I opted for a sushi lunch. My better half opted for a Chinese option. Both of our choices were delicious.  I don’t want to leave out the service, which was very friendly and professional. We never had to ask for more tea, something I appreciate very much.

Finally, we are happy to say that the multi-stall restrooms have an accessible stall, accessible sinks and a baby-changing station.

Although the diner is gone, a new, warm and friendly venue has taken its place!
