Chat Noir

Description

Chat Noir is located on Merrick Road in Rockville Centre. Metered parking is on the street and in municipal lots on Lincoln Ave. There is a bench out front to wait for friends.  The restaurant consists of two rooms that were formerly two separate buildings.

There is a slight slope up to the single door main entrance. The floor is wood and flat. A ramp connects this room to the original restaurant area. Tables with chairs are in both rooms and the aisles wide and easy to navigate.

Two single occupancy, accessible restrooms are located in the rear of the original dining area.

I had not been to Char Noir since well before Covid. We happily returned and were just as pleased as we have been in the past.  I was fortunate to get a metered parking space near the restaurant.  If you cannot find a spot on the street there is a municipal lot on Lincoln Avenue.  There is a slight slope up to the single door entrance and a small ramp up to the private dining area.Tables and chairs in both sections are very well spaced for easy navigation.

The decor is lovely, with white tablecloths and lovely china.  It definitely gives a “tea room” aura.

Their website states, “…innovative and playful French and European cuisine is made with care and quality ingredients.” We definitely agree. Since they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner from Thursday – Sunday, the menu is varied. In the past, we have had afternoon tea. Today was lunch and it was delicious. Crepes, a croissant sandwich, and a selection of amazing “bakery goods”, which included a variety of scones and croissants, were all exceptional. The variety of teas was incredible. Let me suggest the “Carrot Cake Green Tea!”

FYI – There is Jazz on Friday evenings!

Our server was lovely and particularly helpful in choosing a tea.

We were able to have a delectable, relaxing lunch, in a lovely setting.

The large, single occupancy, accessible restrooms are located at the rear of the original dining area.

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to check a venue’s website, www.chatnoirtea.com when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
