Tickets for Carnegie Hall. Looking to try another, new restaurant close by. Tonight it was Brasserie Cognac, located two blocks away. The website says, “…authentic French food.” We decided that would be interesting.
Of course, there is no parking lot, as it is in mid-town Manhattan. There are several parking lots close by. Street-level, double doors led us into a lively French Bistro setting. Several dining areas make the space seem somewhat intimate. Although not spacious there is adequate space to navigate among most of the tables and banquettes. The only exception to this is trying to navigate to the restrooms. Although located in a wide hallway off the front left dining area, getting past the tables near that hallway made for a challenge. There is not adequate space for a wheelchair to get to the multi-stall, handicapped-accessible restrooms without diners at some of the tables having to move their chairs. There are no baby-changing facilities.
We were seated in a quiet back area. As we looked at the extensive menu we notice a pre-fix menu – a nice option – which three in our party opted for. I was the lone hold-out, being unable to pass up the mussels I saw on the menu. Our server was very professional, our dinner unhurried. If you are headed to the theater, let your server know, and he/she will make sure to get you there on time.
If the weather permits and you wish, there is outdoor seating facing Broadway.
As always, we at Destination Accessible advise you to check a venue’s website, http://www.cognacrestaurant.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
