Located in a small strip mall about 1/4 mile west of Route 110, on the north side of Jericho Turnpike, is Zaro’s Cafe. You could easily miss it, but you should not!  It is a small gem of a restaurant with a big taste!  Zaro’s has been family owned and operated for 30 years. Quite an accomplishment, but well deserved – they have great food, great service and great prices.  What more could one want?  Oh yes, they have pleasant decor and good accessibility.  Tables and chairs (armless) are well spaced, making for easy navigation.

There are two accessible spaces in the paved, parking lot.

We had heard about Zaro’s, but this was our first chance to stop by.

It was after 2:00 pm and we wanted a late lunch. We walked in, not expecting much, and were so pleased to see such a lovely place, Although not large they have done a great job of making it feel cozy with a very Mediterranean feel.

Before we sat down, Veronica told us that, unfortunately, the waitress was not there. She invited us to order at the counter (which we did) and she would bring the items to us.  There was a “two-for” gyro special, which we took advantage of.  They were both delicious, one chicken, one lamb. We couldn’t quite believe what a bargain we found!

There s a single-occupancy, “accessible” restroom in rear of a hallway.

It seemed a bit narrow, but were told that wheelchairs do fit – thank you.

The restroom itself is a decent size. Unfortunately, there is only one handrail next to the toilet, and the garbage can takes up some space under the sink. It would be nice if it could be moved. If you are OK with these items, Zaro’s is a great place.

All in all, we loved Zaro’s, and will definitely be back.

As always, we at Destination Accessible advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.zaroscafe.com, when planning a visit to learn more.
