The Westway Diner is a dining institution in New York.  It serves all of the classics and more in a retro diner setting. They have a classic diner menu, including many healthy options.

Located on 9th Avenue, between 43rd and 44th Streets, there is generally no street parking. We were very lucky early on a Sunday morning to get a spot on the street right in front of the restaurant. Although it was early, before nine, a line had already formed. The gentleman in charge of that line, Jeff, was a master at moving people along. He checked on how many were in each party and kept providing people with updates on how long they could expect to wait. It was quite a cold day, so the heat lamps overhead were a great addition! This is a fairly large venue, so the line moved faster than I had anticipated.

Once inside, we found booths, tables and a full length counter. Although not overly spacious, every effort was made to accommodate everyone’s needs.

Our server was very friendly and helpful. Everything we ordered came out just as we wanted. Eggs, omelettes, and pancakes were all delicious!  Perhaps because this is a family owned and operated venue, things are extremely well run! Whatever the reason, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Multi-stall restrooms, with an accessible stall and sinks are located in the rear. There is a baby-changing station.

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.westwaydiner.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”

If you are in the mood for a great diner near the Theater District in Manhattan, Westway would be  a great choice!  Awe will definitely be back!
