Wantagh Park, Childrens Playground

Description

The playground at Wantagh Park is located at 1 King Road, Wantagh. Two handicapped spaces are located in the parking lot closest to the playground. Brick and concerete  walkways lead to the fenced area. There are a variety of areas and apparatus for children ranging from toddlers to teens.  Sand is under most of the area.There are many benches and picnic tables. 

Mult-stall restrooms with a large, handicapped-stall are located in the building close to the playground (less than 1/10 of a mile).

Someone recently told me about Wantagh Park and its large playground. Even though I have lived in Nassau County for more than forty years, I have never been there. Today was the day! The playground is located in a beautiful 111 acre, waterfront park.  The large parking lot closest to the playground has two handicapped spaces. Brick and concrete walkways lead to the play areas.  Most of it is  fenced, with different apparatus for kids of all ages.  Sand is under most of the equipment, making for a forgiving surface. There are three swing areas, none of which have handicapped swings. Many benches  allow one to watch his/her charges easily. A large picnic area is here as well. All of the kids I saw seemed to be having a great time – and why not, with all of the choices available.

If you are interested, across the road from the playground is the park’s Mini Golf Course. A bit father down the road, to the right,  is a Butterfly Garden.
