Tim’s Shipwreck Diner has been an institution in the heart of Northport for over 50 years. This family owned, vintage venue serves wonderful breakfast and lunch (cash only) until 3:00 pm daily. Although we have walked past innumerable times, this was our first visit to dine.
Before going any further, we need to say that it you want to eat indoors, and use the extremely small, non-accessible restroom, you must be able to negotiate the three steps up to the single door entrance. If you don’t need a restroom and want to sit outside in their lovely, heated courtyard, you do not need to worry about steps. Just go around to the back and ask someone to assist you. Tables out here are very well spaced. Just another note; if you are seated outside, there are six steps to get inside from here (Or you can go around to the front with the three steps).
All of that being said, Tim’s was a wonderful experience. Beginning with our wonderful server, who served us fresh cornbread and preserves as soon as we sat down, each of our entrees (eggs benedict, omelettes, pancakes and an egg sandwich) was delicious! Everything arrived exactly as ordered. We were checked on regularly and not rushed at all. What a lovely way to start the day!
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.shipwreck@optonlne.net, when planning a visit to “know before you go.”
