A business meeting brought me to a venue I had never been too. Sweetwaters’ Coffee & Tea, on West Main Street, Smithtown, was a wonderful surprise. Located next to a real estate office, you might never notice it, but you should make a point of looking for it.
The paved, parking lot has two accessible spaces directly in front of the street-level, single door entrance.
Sweetwaters was founded in 1993 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a place close to my heart as one of my sons went to the University there!
Their website states that Sweetwaters is , “…a coffeehouse that celebrates classic cafe fare alongside globally influenced coffees and teas in an environment that is both classic and friendly.”
Once inside you will find a warm, welcoming venue. Seating is at tables and armless chairs. Although not large, there is adequate space to navigate.
Before I even ordered I was taken by the art for sale on the walls and the shelves with toys to keep the little ones occupied – how nice!
The menu is quite large and varied. There were a good number of seasonal items which I wanted to try. In the end I settled on Cappuccino, which was delicious. I understand from the person who invited me, that the many pastries, etc. are also delicious. Maybe next time.
No one rushed us and we were able to sit and talk for quite some time.
When I needed a restroom (located at the back of the venue) I was pleasantly surprised to find a large, truly accessible restroom. Kudos to the owners for this. It is truly appreciated!
Sweetwaters is a unique venue in a world of chain establishments.
