Spuntino, Dix Hills is one of a trio of Spintino’s on Long Island. This one is tucked in the corner of a strip mall on the corner of Old Country Road, and Jericho Turnpike. It is right next door to Urban Air.

The large, paved, parking lot has five accessible spaces, one of which is very close to the curb cut and sidewalk.  Street-level, double doors lead to the Pizza area, where a steady stream of people were picking up their pizzas to go. Several people have recommended their brick oven-style pizza. Based on the number of people waiting, they must be doing something right!

Walk beyond this area and you will find several dining areas.  There is an area with booths and banquettes. Make a left and you will discover two  more large, dining areas, one of which has tables and chairs ( no arms on the chairs). There is more than ample space between tables to make navigation easy.

We were a group of seven and had a perfect, round table that easily accommodated us. Not everyone in our group arrived at the same time. Our server was very gracious in serving us drinks and delicious bread while we waited and chatted.

Spuntino’s website states that they serve, “…hearty, delicious, Italian cuisine in a warm and friendly atmosphere…” Based on our lunches, we heartily agree!  Baked Ravioli, Veal Parmesan Heroes, and three different types of salads were all spectacular! Our server visited our table often to make sure we had everything we wanted. We could’t have asked for a better experience for our lunch.

We were seated in the dining area closest to the restrooms. A swinging door leads to the hallway where the restrooms are. Large, accessible, single-occupancy restrooms have a baby-changing station. Take note that the door to the restroom is a bit hard to open.

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.spuntinoonline.com, when planning a visit, to “know more before you go.”
