The weather on my birthday was perfect. No better way to spend some time than to have lunch outside, as close to the water as possible. The Snapper Inn turned out to be a wonderful choice. Located on the banks of the Connetquot River, their beautiful covered patio was idea for a relaxed celebration.

The Snapper Inn has been family owned since 1929.  It is a large, welcoming venue that has not lost any of its charm. The warm, wood tones and period decor have a classic touch in this sometimes “too modern” world.  It was wonderful to find linen tablecloths and fresh flowers on the tables for lunch.  The patio is a bit more casual, which was just fine with us.

The large, paved parking lot has five accessible spaces close to the double door, main entrance. The walkway to the entrance is brick. There is a small lip at the outer set of doors. Once inside there is a large welcome area with several sofas.  The large, accessible, family restroom is located to the left of the entrance. The other restrooms are located to the right.

We were greeted by a lovely woman.  Since we didn’t have a reservation, we had to wait a bit for a table on the patio.  We took this time to walk around and look at the multiple dining areas, full-height bar and lounge area, and check out the large, outdoor area leading to the dining deck. There is ample space throughout, making navigation easy. There are two steps, or a brick ramp, to access the back. There is a small “lip” at the doorway. We found a large, round outdoor bar (which was quite busy), as well as a round, lounge area that requires two steps up to it.  There is the covered patio. They also have about a dozen Adirondack chairs facing the water, where some patrons were relaxing and taking in the view. We got there later! Almost forgot to mention that there are a good number of flat rugs throughout the building which didn’t seem to hamper the two wheelchair users we saw.

Once we were seated, it was hard to concentrate on anything but the view. A marina is very close, so one can watch the boats coming and going. Then were is the river, with more boats out on this gorgeous day. There is a lunch special, if you want, as well as an outdoor dining menu, served from Wednesday thru Sunday from 12:00 to 8:00. Of course, be forewarned that this may change at any time.

A glass of birthday wine, along with a Lobster Roll, and Shrimp and Scallop Scampi, were our choices for lunch.  Everything was delicious!  Our server could not have been any nicer. She was attentive and helpful, as well as professional.  Cappuccino rounded out a perfect lunch!
