Shorefront Playground is located within Shorefront Park in Patchogue.
Centrally positioned in the park, it overlooks beautiful Patchogue Bay. I visited on a cold, windy, weekday afternoon, so the park was empty. During sunny and warm days it is probably a good location in which to spend some time.
Ample parking is available, including accessible spaces that provide easy access to both the park and playground.
Paved pathways wind through the park, offering a pleasant way to walk and take in the scenic waterfront views.
Nearby amenities include an amphitheater, baseball fields, basketball courts, and other recreational spaces surrounding the playground.
The playground itself features some accessible play elements. There is one accessible swing with a harness, which requires a transfer for wheelchair users.
The play structure includes perimeter components that children can use to pull themselves up and play with. A ramp provides access to the main play structure. For wheelchair users, this is the only viable entrance and exit. The structure is primarily designed for older children.
I would recommend visiting on a sunny afternoon or evening to enjoy the view of the bay and a beautiful sunset.
While the park lacks some features for full wheelchair accessibility, it offers ample space to move around and enjoy the surrounding sights.
