If you are headed to the theater or just exploring NYC, Serendipity III, Times Square is a “perfect place to enjoy world-famous desserts and an accessible, iconic dining experience.” (Website).
We were headed to an afternoon performance and decided to visit this wonderful version of the original location on the Upper East Side. Bold colors, unique decor and Andy Warhol-inspired elements bring energy to Serendipity’s 1954 roots.
Located at 157 West 47th Street, it is definitely within the Theater District, close to most theaters. As one would expect, there is no dedicated garage, but there are many within the area, and two close by.
There are street-level double doors, as well as a single, accessible door to the left of the others, Once inside one can’t help but smile at the “over the top” decor!
We had a reservation and were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. As we walked through, we saw a variety of seating options, booths, a counter area, tables and chairs (armless), as well as the banquette we were seated at. There is ample space to navigate throughout the restaurant,
It is impossible not to smile at the decor. The bold, bright colors and fun designs made all of us in our party feel happy.
Our server was a delightful person, making us feel good about being there. Unable to make a decision, as usual, about what to order, he did not make us feel at all rushed. We finally chose omelettes, French toast and a burger, which were all decliious. Of course, the Frozen Hot Chocolate was a must! It was just a wonderful as I had remembered it from a long-ago visit.
The only downside of Serendipity III might be the restrooms. They are located in the lobby of the OYO Times Square Hotel. Not a problem for most, but for people with mobility limitations, it is important to note that one must ask for a key for the accessible restroom at the hotel’s check-in counter. So be aware!
All in all Serendipity III, Times Square, gets our vote for a good choice for fun dining in the Times Square area.
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.serendipity3.com, when planning a visit, to learn more.
