Painting With a Twist, Selden, is an amazing venue. Their website says they, “…bring wine, art and fun together in a unique experience.” My visit makes me think that they should include “accessibility for all,” on their site.
Located in a shopping area, they have two accessible spaces directly in front of the street-level, double door entrance. The space is easily accessible, both from the main entrance as well as a single door around the corner, if one needs to park near there.
There are two large spaces within. Although there were no classes going on when I was there, it is easy to see that there is ample space throughout for navigation. If they know in advance, they are able and happy to set things ups to accommodate any needs. I was impressed by the large TV monitors in both areas to assist anyone with visual limitations. They can also accommodate hearing needs. An accessible sink and water fountain in the work areas are wonderful additions. All one has to do is call and discuss your needs with Bertha and her staff. They will be happy to assist you.
I cannot leave out the cleanliness of this place. Everything is spotless (as much as a place can be that does painting)! I love attention to detail that shows the caring the owners have for their venue. Kudos to them for this.
One can attend classes, drop-in events, parties, etc. I loved seeing the “glow in the dark” items available, as well as candles, glasses, etc. There are too many things going on for me to remember them all. Check their website (http://www.paintingwithatwist.com">www.paintingwithatwist.com) or give them a call.
Large, accessible, single-occupancy restrooms are works of art in themselves. They took the time to decorate the restrooms as well!
I had a wonderful tour of Painting With a Twist, Selden. I’m sure you will have an enjoyable experience when you go.
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.paintingwithatwist.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
