Sunday Brunch at the Northport Hotel Restaurant was a lovely experience. This venue in the fairly new, boutique hotel in the heart of Northport is perfect for its location. It seems “old world” yet new, at the same time. Located across the street from The Engeman Theater, it is easy to enter, with street level, double doors.
If you don’t want to park on the street, know that there is valet parking available. We urge you not to do what we did – go up the steep hill to the parking structure. There was an accessible space, which we took, thinking that we would enter the door we saw just ahead of our spot. It turned out that door is only an employee entrance (and locked at that). We walked down the street to the entrance, but don’t advise it. Better to get out of your car if the valet is not visible, and ask at the desk to valet the car.
Once inside, we were warmly greeted by the hostess and shown to our table, passing the full-height bar on our way.
The restaurant is beautiful, seemingly Old World charm mixed with modern elegance.
The large dining area is divided into two sections, to make each somewhat more intimate. Tables with armless chairs, large booths and banquettes, are all extremely well- spaced for easy navigation.
Having linen tablecloths and napkins on each table makes any meal extra special for me. Such a nice touch!
Our server was very pleasant and attentive. After taking our drink order, she left us to converse leisurely with our friends and review the menu. The brunch menu is varied with both breakfast and lunch choices. After much consideration, Eggs Benedict, Crab Cakes and French Toast were our choices. Each was perfect! It turned out that we couldn’t pass up dessert, due to our friends’ longing for Bananas Foster (which was delicious).
There are five, single-occupancy restrooms in a wide hallway in the rear of one of the dining areas. Two of these restrooms are accessible and have baby-changing station. They are large and easy to navigate.
We had a delicious brunch experience and will definitely return!
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.restaurant@npthotel.com, when planning a visit to know more about your visit.
