Since it’s still summer, we continue our quest for restaurants that have outdoor dining options, a nice water view, and are accessible for those with mobility limitations.  Nino’s Beach in the Safe Harbor Marina, Port Washington, fills the bill almost 100%. The only item in this venue that is not accessible are the sinks in the restrooms. We were assured by the manager that they were going to be changed in the coming weeks. We are taking him at his word that it is going to happen.

The last time we were here, it was Latitudes (I think).  The makeover is quite beautiful, especially the full height windows that make sitting inside seem like you are almost outdoors on the deck. We had intended to sit outside, but it was too uncomfortable (hot). We opted for a table right at the window, so we were as close to outside as we could be, while remaining cool in the ac.

The view is lovely, mostly of the boats in the marina, and then the view of Manhasset Harbor.

The paved parking lot is shared with the marina. There is one designated, accessible space.  We understand that there is valet parking in the evening, so no problem. If needed, a passenger can be dropped off at the ramp to the entrance. Double doors await, with a small entryway and another set of doors to the welcome area.

We were warmly greeted and made our way to the outside deck area, where we ultimately did not sit.  Our host was very gracious about us changing our table.  I suspect that it was easy to do because at noon not many people had arrived yet. Anyway, we were grateful.

There are two levels of seating, with a ramp for those unable to do the  steps leading to the lower level.  From the lower level it is easy to get outside. Tables and banquettes are well spaced, making for easy navigation.  Most tables have chairs with arms. There are some that are armless. There is a lovely full-height bar. This is an elegant, yet casual space, with a “Downtown New York City Vibe.” (Website)

The menu is varied, and based on the tables around us, pizza seemed to be the item of the day. We will check them out next time. Today, we opted for salads, lobster burrata, and mini-crab cakes, all of which were exceptional.  Our server was exceptional as well, always checking to make sure we had everything we needed/wanted. We were never rushed.  We ended with Tiramisu for Two (for three of us). It was a delicious ending for a wonderful lunch.

As I mentioned earlier, the only problem is the sink in the multi-stall restrooms. The accessible stall is large and easy to maneuver. When the sinks are made accessible as well, all will be perfect!

Nino’s Beach was a wonderful place for a delicious lunch. We will be back for dinner!

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to check a venue’s website, www.ninosbeach.com, when planning a visit, to learn more about the venue.
