Nappi’s Nook (Nesconset,) had been recommended to us by several people and we finally had a chance to go for brunch.  What a great recommendation for a great place!  As warm and welcoming as any dining establishment we have ever visited.

Nappi’s is a charming venue, with an inviting atmosphere and a unique menu, (there’s a name twist on almost every food item on the menu).

Located in a small strip mall on Smithtown Boulevard, the paved parking lot has one accessible space to the left of the single-door entrance. There are two steps from the parking lot to get up to the walkway in front of the entrance, or a rather steep (but short) ramp. If you use the ramp, take it real slow!

Once inside, we were welcomed by one of the owners and shown to a table. Seating consists of tables, chairs (all armless), banquettes, and a full-height counter. There is ample space to navigate throughout.

As soon as we sat down, our lovely server appeared and offered us coffee ( or anything else we wanted to drink).  The menu is large and  varied, with many interesting items, as well as specials of the day.  Everything is made from scratch, and, as we discovered, is delicious!  They bring “…a passion to your plate and a smile to your stomach.” (website) If you are a pancake lover they have a “Great Pancake Challenge.” Check it out at their website.

After much deliberation we chose The Garden Omelette and The Jess Omelette, both of which were excellent.

The wonderful service continued, with our server returning several times to check on our need for more coffee, etc.

We discovered that “Nappi’s Nook”  is a family affair, owned by several members of the Nappi family (hence the name), and staffed by many members of that family. Many of the menu items are named after family members !  I just love the story!

We noticed a sign on the table saying that Nappi’s Nook is open on the last Friday or each month for “Brunch for Dinner” (5:00 – 9:00 pm), served with live music.  We can’t wait to return for that!

Two single-occupancy  restrooms are located in a hallway in the rear of the dining area to the right of the counter.  One of the restrooms is REALLY SMALL.  The other does it best to be accessible for those with mobility limitations. There is  only one handrail. We would have to call the sink “semi-accessible” for a wheelchair-user, as one can only fit part way under the sink.  It is unfortunate that the mirror is not low enough for a wheelchair-user. The owners told us that they have tried to do their best to accommodate all.

In spite of what, unfortunatey, could be a limitation for some, we loved Nappi’s Nook.

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.nappisnook.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go,”
