Diners are usually restaurants that someone with a mobility challenge can count on to be accessible for them. The Millennium Diner, Smithtown, is no exception to that.  The family-friendly, family owned and operated (since 2000), is accessible to all.

Four (van) accessible spaces in the paved parking lot are located close to the concrete ramp to the double-door entrance.

An entryway, then another set of doors, leads to the welcome area. The Millennium has a comfortable, homey atmosphere, just what we have come to expect from diners.

Seating is at tables and booths, plus the usual counter. Chairs are armless. There is ample space to navigate throughout. There is also a separate room in the rear that can be closed off if there is an event going on.

We were warmly welcomed and shown to a booth. Our lovely server quickly checked to see if we wanted something to drink, and then left us to peruse the menu. There was no rushing involved. Kudos to Millennium for being one of the few places where I ordered eggs that were done exactly as I requested them.  My friend ordered a “made-to-order” omelette that also came exactly as she had ordered it. Our coffee cups were kept full as we continued to enjoy our relaxed brunch. We could not have asked for a nicer meal.

Multi-stall restrooms, with an accessible stall,  are located in a hallway in the rear.  The sinks are accessible, and there is a baby-changing station.

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.the milleniumdiner.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
