After a visit to the Bellmore Movies & Showplace, I asked for a recommendation for a place to get some lunch. The Mediterranean Diner was suggested as a possibility.
Although it is walkable from the theater, I took my car. In the morning, parking close by, on the street, was easy. I am not sure what it is like later in the day or evening. If you need it, there is a municipal lot about a block away.
The street-level, single door entrance is on the corner. Once inside, I found an iconic American Diner in the heart of Bellmore. Since 1997, this restaurant has been family owned and operated. “Family members are on hand everyday to ensure that everyone is treated like family. They take pride in caring about their customers and knowing them and are…meticulous about serving quality food made to order.” (web) I can only say that my breakfast experience was welcoming and caring, making sure that my coffee was hot and my eggs made exactly the way I asked for them.
Besides tables and booths, with adequate space between them, there is a full-height counter that you would expect at a diner.
There is a private party room in the rear that can accommodate up to 50.
Single-occupancy, accessible restrooms are located to the left of the cashier.
Many of the people that came in as I was sitting certainly seemed to be “regulars,” warmly greeted by name.
If you are going to, or coming from, the Bellmore Movies you might want to stop here for something to eat. I know I will be back!
