Before we begin telling you about Lillies Victorian, we must let you know that Lillie’s is not accessible in many ways. The seating is all at hi-top tables or the full-height bar. The space throughout is “tight” with little space to navigate, and finally, the restrooms are down 14 steps and have some of the smallest stalls I have ever seen.
If all of that is OK with you, read on!
Located in the heart of the theater district this interesting and beautiful venue should not be missed. It is like taking a step back in time. If you are in the neighborhood, stop in for lunch, drinks or dinner. Reservations are a very good idea.
The street level, single door is within a plastic “entrance.” This gets you to the main door which is also street level.
Once inside we were amazed by the Victorian look, from the dark woods, to the tin ceiling and incredible holiday decorations. We didn’t expect the decorations, and when we asked about them we were told that they are changed seasonally. We will definitely be returning.
Although we did not have a reservation, we would recommend it. Luckily, we were able to get two seats at the bar. We were headed to a matinee performance and “lucked out.”
We were pleasantly surprised by the varied lunch menu. We both ordered omelettes, which were perfectly done. The person on one side of us had the onion soup, which she said was delicious. The person on our other side had sliders, which she also said were amazing. There were several people behind the bar that were all quite gracious in helping us. Having previously told you about the restrooms, and other aspects of Lillie’s that are to accessible, you need to decide for yourself what is best for you.
When planning a visit, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to check a venue’s website, www.lilliesnyc.com, to learn more.
