A business lunch brought me to Lenny’s Clam Bar in Howard Beach. Although I had never been here, several of the people I was with described eating here for many years and even having had wonderful celebrations of special events here. Opened in 1974, this Howard Beach staple is up to its “second generation of family hospitality.” (website)
Valet parking seems to be the norm. As I stepped out of my car a pleasant gentleman gave me a ticket to retrieve my car. The street-level double doors close by led to an entryway and another set of doors. I opened those to find the hostess area with the main dining room and full-height bar area, to the righ. Floors are carpeted and tables have ample space between them.
I walked past the bar to the private room where we were having our lunch. As I looked within the room, my syes immediately went to the large windows and water view beyond. If there had been outdoor seating it would have been perfect for me! As it was, it was lovely to be able to look at the water and boats going by. It’s too bad that the people in the main dining room don’t have this view.
If the food at lunch was any indication of the “regular” menu, I am ready to return. My fish was perfect, and my dining companions said the same about their choices. Just to let you know, our server was very attentive and helpful.
Multi-stall restrooms, with a large, handicapped-stall are located in a hallway near the hostess area.
