After a lovely stroll in Northport Village Park, we met friends for an early dinner at La Porta, on Main Street. This is a casual Italian eatery, that the website states is “Northport’s authentic Italian Ristorante.”
Parking must be found on the street or in the nearby town lot next to the Marina and Park.
La Porta is at the end of Main Street, quite close to the park.
The vibe is very friendly and lively. The decor is upscale “pizza parlor,” if you understand what I mean.
We entered the street-level, single door and were warmly welcomed. Although the space between tables is not huge, there is adequate space to navigate.Seating is at tables and chair (armless), banquettes and a full-height bar.
All of the pizzas that passed us by looked delicious! They are made in a huge pizza oven imported from Italy. We will have to try them next time. Our choices on this evening turned out to be great, Shrimp Fry Diavolo, two Chicken Sorrentinos, and Branzino were all delicious!
Our server was lovely. She seemed very sympathetic to our inability to make a decision and didn’t rush us at all. We were able to enjoy a wonderful dinner with friends in a fun atmosphere.
The large, single-occupancy, accessible restroom is perfect. Everything is easily accessible, to those who need these accommodations, and lovely for everyone else..
We look forward to returning. We hope you give it a try
