Jonathan’s in New Hyde Park was where we met friends for an early dinner. The large, paved parking lot has three handicapped spaces to the left and four to the right of the incline leading to the double door main entrance. Entering, we found a vestibule with seating, and another set of double doors to the large, dining areas.
Jonathan’s is is easy to navigate. Tile floors throughout and ample space between the tables, booths, and banquettes are well spaced. The dining room is divided into three areas, so that no one seems overewhelming. The bar/lounge area, to the right of the main entrance, is a more intimate setting. A private party room is located to the left, at the rear, near the hallway to the large, multi-stall, handicapped-accessible restrooms. Happily, there are baby-changing faciities.
We were seated at one of the comfortable banquettes. Even though my husband and I were late for our resrvation (a traffic accident on the highway), our friends had been seated. How nice! Our server was quite pleasant and attentive. Each of us ordered something different and all of our dishes were excellent. I had the largest mussels I had ever seen and they were delicious! And even though we were late, we were never rushed through our meal. We were able to have a leisurely dinner in a lovely setting.
Our dinner companions told us that they have been to several private parties at Jonathan’s and each was lovely.
