I can’t quite believe that I had never been to Grand Lux Cafe, Roosevelt Field, before. My loss. This easily accessible, and lovely restaurant was a great choice for lunch with a friend I had not seen in quite some time.
Accessible parking is easy in the paved, Roosevelt Field Mall lot.
Of course, some of the spaces are closer than others.
Large, street-level, double doors lead to an entryway and another set of double doors to the very large welcome area. Benches are here for those who have to wait for others in their party.
Inspired by Italian Trattorias, French Bistros and the grand cafes of Vienna, the atmosphere is definitely European.
Several large dining areas have well-spaced tables, booths and banquettes that ensure a semi-private atmosphere. There is also a full-height bar and patio seating in warm weather. We were able to “catch up” on lost time without feeling that we were disturbing others.
Th website states that, ”…internationally inspired cuisine spans the globe… and provides a …unique dining experience from cuisine to decor.” We couldn’t agree more. The extensive menu even offered a good number of lunch specials. Both of us ordered Asian Chicken Salads and were not disappointed. They were delicious. The addition of bread on the table was a great gesture.
Our server was lovely, pleasant and professional. She was there to check on us and make sure everything was “OK.” We were never rushed and able to enjoy a leisurely lunch.
Multi-stall restrooms have a large, accessible stall, accessible sink and baby-changing station.
This may have been my first visit to Grand Lux, but it definitely won’t be my last.
