The Golden Globe Diner, Huntington, is a real gem! Not only does it have great food and service in an easily accessible setting, there is a large parking lot in back (something that is hard to come by in this town).
This was not our first visit. We always enjoy it immensely and have made it one of our “go to’s.”
There is a large, paved parking lot behind the restaurant, with four designated accessible spaces very close to the street-level, single door entrance. Once inside you are in an entryway, where you will find the restrooms, a bench and another door leading to the lower dining area. If you enter from Main Street, you will find double doors that lead to the upper level. One can easily get from one level to the other via a ramp. There is seating at tables, booths and a counter. All chairs are armless. There is ample space throughout for easy navigation.
No matter which way you come in, you will always be greeted by a friendly person with a warm smile.
Once seated, coleslaw, pickles and cold pasta salad are there for you as you peruse the large menu. No matter what you order, it will not only be delicious, but you will usually have enough left ofter for at least one more meal at home! We have tried many items on the menu from breakfast, to dinner, and have never been disappointed. On this last visit, a Greek Pizza, Chicken Avocado Club and a Cobb Salad were our choices. Needless to say, everything was perfect! Our servers were lovely and attentive, making sure that all was to our liking. A wonderful plus is that Peter, the owner, always comes around to see how his customers are doing. The website states that they serve “authentic and classic dishes for your enjoyment…made with the “…freshest locally sourced ingredients.” We certainly agree with that!
As I mentioned earlier, the large, single-occupancy, accessible restrooms, with baby-changing facilities, are located near the rear entrance.
The Golden Coach Diner is a comfortable, place that makes you feel as though you have been invited into their home. Make sure to give them a try.
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.goldendiner.com, when planning a visit to find out more.
Once you try it, we know that you, like us, will return.
