I love Broadway (except the prices, of course). Commuting from Long Island, we are guaranteed traffic so we give ourselves a big window of time, and take the LIRR, allowing us a leisurely, pre-matinee brunch,
If you are looking for a pre/post Broadway lunch or dinner, Glass House Tavern is a terrific choice.
If you are seeing “Wicked” or “Aladdin” and have a fairy-godmother or magic lamp, a parking space may miraculously appear, but for the rest of us, there is a parking lot across the street and three more within a three block radius.
We had no reservations, so were extremely lucky to find The Glass House Tavern.
The street-level, double doors are heavy, but there are lovely ladies to assist.
Seating is varied, with entry-level tables and a motorized wheelchair lift (LU/LA) to get you down to the lower level.
On that level you have more seating and a single-occupancy, accessible restroom with a long, grab-bar.
There is a brunch menu with shareable appetizers such as Crispy Calamari, Homemade Flatbread with Tomato, Mozzarella, Scrambled Eggs and Chipotle Aioli. My husband adored the Goat Cheese and Mushroom Quiche and I loved my quiche with spinach.
The lovely couple next to us raved about their Tavern Burger and Chicken Wrap. Their cocktails, “Lights, Camera, Action” and “Staycation” gave them happy smiles.
I am happy I found a pre-theater restaurant, and although a bit “pricey,” (what isn’t these days?) I will definitely go again!
Don’t forget to make a reservation beforehand for parking,
