In our quest of trying new places for lunch, we came upon Franklin and Phoebe Brunchery, It was definitely a “find.” Located in what used to be Alpine, this reimagined venue is still under its original ownership of over 40 years. It has been renamed and rethought, and is a delightfully warm and friendly place to enjoy a great breakfast, brunch or lunch.
Named for the intersection of Franklin Ave and Phoebe St, where the building stands, this one story building has a street-level, single door entrance. This gets you to the inner lobby and another single door to the hostess area.
Floors are smooth. Seating is at booths, tables and chairs (armless). There is adequate space to navigate throughout. The decor is welcoming, with some nice sayings on the walls.
We were welcomed by our server, Veronica, who made sure our early lunch had everything we needed/wanted. She was delightful!
The menu is large and varied. There were so many interesting choices that it was difficult to choose . In the end we opted for Eggs Benedict (classic style) and one of the many omelettes listed. We can only say that they were both scrumptious! We will have to return to try some of the other choices!
I have to say that the single-occupancy restrooms are semi-accessible. The toilets have only one grab bar and the sink (with its large vanity) is not wheelchair accessible. There is a baby-changing station in the room.
Almost forgot to mention parking. There is a small lot, which was full. We wound up parking on the street. Just be sure to read the signs about where it is legal to park!
If you are able to deal with the restroom issues, we would highly recommend Franklin & Phoebe as a great place for a delicious breakfast, brunch or lunch.
