We headed into midtown Manhattan to meet a cousin for brunch.  We wanted someplace not too far from MOMa.  Fig & Olive fit the bill. Located at 10 E. 52nd Street, it is about a block from the museum. The fact that it is accessible on the main floor was a plus.

If you are driving, parking needs to be had at one of the nearby garages. Since it was a Sunday, we were incredibly lucky and found a spot on the street.

“Fig & Olive was founded to capture the essence of the French Riviera that is built on a foundation of genuine ingredients, deep respect for flavor and an ambiance that celebrates the love and culture synonymous with the French Riviera.”  They want their guests to feel “indulged and special.”  (website)

If you don’t look up to see the sign, you might easily pass by the street-level, single door entrance to the restaurant. A small entryway and another single door lead to the welcome area.

The restaurant is two floors. The only way to the second level is by steps, about 30 of them.  Happily the main floor is accessible, with tables, chairs (with armless chairs), banquettes and a full-height bar.

The accessible restroom on the main floor. Although not spacious, there is adequate room to navigate throughout. If you are making a reservation and cannot do the steps, be sure to tell them of your needs.

We have no idea of the noise level in the evening. We were here for bunch and, although the upper level was filled, it was nice and quiet. It was easy to converse with all six of us at the table.

Our server was lovely and quite helpful.  Everyone was happy with their choices, Steak and Eggs and Mushroom and goat cheese omelettes were delicious. The cappuccino was great as well! We will definitely return!

As we stated before, the accessible restroom is located on the main level.

As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.figandolive.com, to learn more about your destination.
