The Copenhagen Bakery is celebrating its 25th anniversary! We hope they will be here for another 25 years or more. We have been there many times and have never been disappointed. The bakery… “captures the essence of Danish Baking…You will experience authenticity directly from Denmark.” (website) Although we have never been to Denmark, if this is what the food is like we are ready to go! Everything is delicious, the staff is extremely pleasant and the ambiance is cheerful. Besides all of that, this establishment is accessible. The addition of a new dining room is wonderful, allowing for much more seating than previously.
Paved parking lots on either side of the building have accessible spots with a ramp that makes it easy to get to the main entrance (2 single doors). Once inside, you place your order at the counter and find a seat (either inside or on the deck, depending on the weather). The Copenhagen serves cafe lunch, soups, and hot breakfast daily, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Go online to check their menu and daily specials! Their foods are of the “freshest quality and prepared with no preservatives or fillers.” (website) Order at the counter and your food will be brought to you by one of their friendly servers. The spacing between tables in the main area is a bit tight, but the new dining room is wonderful, with ample space for all. Everyone working here is eager to accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, etc.
There are now two, large, accessible, single-occupancy, restrooms in the new dining area.
Because of its location directly across the street from the park, it is the perfect place on a a nice day. It is easy to get your order to go, cross the street and enjoy your food at one of the tables and benches overlooking the water. If you have little ones with you, there is a large playground area here as well. You might also take a walk on the dock, or browse in the shops along Main Street.
As always, we at Destination Accessible advise you to check a venue’s website, www.copenhagenbakery.net, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.” We love this place. We think you will too!
