Meeting friends to attend a performance at The Boulton Center, Bayshore, we needed a place for an early dinner. Butera’s, Bay Shore fit the bill.Having enjoyed Butera’s in other locations, we decided this would probably be a good choice. Turned out that we were correct!
Parking needs to be found either on the street (pay parking) or in one of the municipal lots close by. If you park on the street, be sure to read the signs about time, etc.
Another plus was that we were able to make a reservation, which was promptly honored.
The modern looking building gives you an idea of what you will find inside. The street-level, single door entrance leads to a small entryway and then another single door to the welcome area. “A combination of brick, subway tiles, marble and original artwork give an industrial edge” to the space. Garage doors that open, bring the “outside” in with fresh air, and add to the look. (website) There is also outdoor dining during warm weather.
Tables (both high and low), armless chairs, booths and banquettes, along with a full-height bar are well spaced for fairly easy navigation. The smooth, concrete floor also helps navigate throughout.
“Traditional, rustic Italian cuisine, with a modern flair” (website) was served by a very pleasant and helpful server, who answered our questions and helped us decide on our orders. Our pasta and chicken dishes, along with exceptional salads, made for a wonderful dinner.
Take note that the vibe is “lively,” which for us seniors means it was a bit louder than we might want, but didn’t interfere with our conversation.
All in all, this turned out to be a perfect venue for our pre-theater dinner. We will definitely return!
Single-occupany, accessible restrooms ( with a baby-changing station), are located in a hallway in the rear of the bar/lounge area.
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.buteras.com, when planning a visit, to “know before you go.”
