We can’t remember the last time we had such outstanding Chinese food as we had yesterday at Albert’s Mandarin Gourmet in Huntington. We had heard about it from several people but the one time we tried to go there, they had had a power outage and were closed. We are certainly glad that our friends recommended it for dinner with them.
There are two accessible spaces in the small parking lot to the left of the building. Otherwise, street parking seems to be readily available. The street-level double door entrance leads to a small entryway and another set of double doors.
Once inside, you can feel the activity. This is a large venue with several dining areas. There are tables, booths, a sushi bar, and full-height bar in the lounge area. We were lucky to get one of the booths, with a round tables, and almost fully enclosed, giving us a feeling of privacy. Tables in the main dining area, although not far apart, have adequate space between them to navigate. There is another small dining area in the back, close to the restrooms.
The menu is huge, with a variety of specials I had never seen before. With the guidance of our friends, who had been here many times, we made our selections, beginning with spare ribs and dumplings, followed by Rainbow Shrimp, General Zhao’s Chicken, and Pork Chow Fun. The ribs were probably the best I have ever had. Everything that followed was just as delicious. Our server was pleasant and professional. All in all, we have to give this dinner a 10!
Multi-stall restrooms are located in the rear of the back dining area. There is a large, semi accessible stall. Unfortunately there is only one handrail in that stall. The sinks are accessible. It is too bad that there is no baby-changing station.
This was our first, but definitely not our last visit to Albert’s Mandarin Gourmet. It will definitely become a “go-to” for us.
As always, we at Destination Accessible advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.albertsmandariinhuntington.com, when planning a visit, to “
