With some time to spare before a meeting near MacArthur Airport led me to the Airport Diner for a late breakfast. Whether you are leaving from the airport, returning to Long Island, or picking someone up, the Airport Diner is a good place for anything you might want to eat.
Parking is plentiful in the large, paved lot. Two accessible spaces are close to the concrete ramp leading to the single door entrance. Once in the entryway you will find double doors to actually enter the diner.
I was warmly greeted and led to a booth. Besides booths there are tables with armless chairs as well as a long counter. The decor is warm and welcoming.
My lovely server immediately asked if I would like some coffee. Throughout my stay, she returned to check on me often to make sure that I had everything I needed. I loved that!
The menu is large and varied. You can have breakfast or dinner at any time of the day you choose. That’s one of the things I love about diners. My choice of omelette was excellent. As I looked around at the other dinners’ choices, everything looked good!
Knowing that I had a time limit, my food was delivered in a speedy manner.
I have nothing but good things to say about the food and service at the Airport Diner.
My only problem was with the multi-stall restrooms. Although there is an accessible stall, it is narrow, which might present a problem for some wheelchair users. Unfortunately, we think the hand dryer is too high for a wheelchair user to access it. There is a baby-changing station, which is nice.
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.airportdinerny.com, when planning a visit to learn more about the venue.
