The Booth Theater is located at 222 West 45th Street, NYC. The street-level entrance takes one to the carpeted lobby and orchestra seating. There are no steps required for orchestra seating.Steps are required to get to the mezzanine and balcony levels, as well as the lower level. There is a large, single-occupancy, accessible restroom in the rear of the orchestra level.

After more than three years, we finally returned to Broadway. Tickets to a new show, “Kimberly Akimbo” brought us to the Booth Theater in Shubert Alley.

Built in 1913, it is one of the oldest theaters on Broadway and quite beautiful. With only 800 seats there is really no bad seat in the house. 

It took a long time for the Shubert Organization to agree to modify their theaters to meet the ADA requirements. Accessible seating is only available on the orchestra level, as there is no way to get to the upper floors, except by taking the stairs. The same is true of the lower level, where there is a large lounge and the multistage restrooms.

It is quite nice that there is a large, accessible, single-occupancy restroom in the rear of the orchestra section. As you enter the theater, walk behind the seats, all the way to the right, where you will see the restroom in a hallway to your left. Although it would be nice to have more than one, it is a god-send to have even one.  It is nice that you can find much information about accessibility for all at “The Booth Theater Accessibility.”

It was easy to enter the step-free lobby from the street level entrance and get to all orchestra seats without any steps. The aisles are carpeted and lit. The seats are rather small due to the age of the building. 

We had aisle seats. Know that the side orchestra rows have only one way in and out. If your seats are at the end, you will have a good number of people to pass if you need to get out for some reason. 

If you are able to do the many steps to the lower level, you will find a beautiful lounge as well as the multi-stall restrooms. 

It was wonderful to attend a Broadway Show once again!
