Description

Harbor Mist Restaurant is located at 105 Harbor Road (Route 25A) in Cold Spring Harbor. As of our visit, parking can be found in a close by lot belonging to the restaurant, on the street, or in the municipal parking lot close by.
Outdoor seating has been created in the paved parking lot, with umbrellas or open sided tent. There are no steps necessary to sit at one of the tables out here.
There is a brick walkway to the single door entrance, a small entryway and another door to enter the building.Tables and chairs, plus a full-height bar area with high-top tables are. One area requires a step up.
Multi-stall restrooms have an accessible stall (with only a handrail on one side), accessible sinks and a baby-changing station.

Early evening with perfect weather, brought us to Harbor Mist for dinner with friends.  

Harbor Mist is a class restaurant, right on Route 25A in Cold Spring Harbor.  Located across the street from the harbor, it does not have the total harbor view that the restaurant writes about on its website. That said, there is a partial view and great sunsets, past the cars and pier. 

Because they have set up their parking lot for lovely, outdoor seating, one can park in their “overflow lot,” which is close by, on the street, or in the parking lot for Cold Spring Park, a bit down the street. 

If you have reserved outdoor seating you don’t even have to go inside to check in. Well-spaced tables and chairs have been set up, under umbrellas, or large tents without sides. The addition of foliage and trees, including a couple of palm trees, lends a lovely touch. We were able to get a table close to the street and had a nice view across the way.

If you are dining inside, or need to use a restroom, there is a brick walkway to the double-door entrance, entryway and another set of double doors to the welcome area. Inside we found a lovely, classical setting, with wood floors and well-spaced tables and chairs. There is one area of the dining room that requires a step up. There is a full-height bar and several high-top tables in the lounge area.

Our servers were very nice, pleasant and professional. Everything was very “laid back.” We were able to chat and enjoy drinks and appetizers before deciding on our entrees. The lobster salad was excellent as were all of our orders; pasta, more lobster, and shrimp. Everyone was so relaxed, it was impossible to not order dessert and coffee. We kept the calories down by just sharing a Tartuffo! A walk across the street to the pier after dinner was a must. So lovely!

Something I didn’t notice when I first looked at the website – it says “We’re a child friendly restaurant.”  I’m not sure I have ever seen anything like that for a restaurant of that type. I have to think that it means they go out of their way to accommodate the younger set.  Kudos to them

I also like that they have stated clearly on the site that there is a charge for using a credit cards.

Multi-stall restrooms, with baby-changing stations are located near the bar area. Unfortunately, the accessible stall has a handrail only on one side.

There is a full flight of steps to the upper level.
