A friend suggested Toast (Huntington), for an outdoor breakfast on a gorgeous June morning. We didn’t think that at 10:00 am it would be crowded. We were wrong! There was a wait, but it was worth it. Even though seating is on the sidewalk, it is worth it!
Toast has been in Huntington for a long time, so they must be doing something right! Known for their baked, stuffed and scrambled breakfast fare, I can personally attest to the great omelette I had – stuffed with fresh broccoli, turkey and cheese – delicious! My friend’s Huevos Rancheros were excellent as well. Home fries are a combo of white and sweet potatoes, a nice surprise! Now that Covid restrictions have been lifted, we were happy to see that tables and chairs were still being carefully cleaned and wiped down. Our server was lovely and professional. We got our coffee quickly, but were not rushed at any point during our time there.
If you want to eat inside, you will have to negotiate two brick steps to get the the single door entrance. Once inside, there is a full-height counter, tables and chairs on the tile floor. As of today, there was plenty of room between tables, but I suspect that this will change soon.
The other thing to take note of, is that there is a step up to get to the hallway where the restrooms are located. Although the restrooms are large, the doors open in, which might be a problem for some. The restrooms have handrails for accessibility, but the sinks are not wheelchair-accessible. There is a solid cabinet under the sink. There are no baby-changing facilities.
I will definitely be bringing my “better half” here soon! I know he will love it!
