The main entrance requires two steps up to the single door entrance. There is a small entryway and another single door. There is a street-level, single door entrance on the side of the restaurant.

Indoor seating has plastic partitions between tables. Outdoor seating is set up on the sidewalk.

There are two, unisex, handicapped-accessible restrooms with wheelchair-accessible sinks.

On a balmy, 27 degree day in January, we headed to Oyster Bay to meet friends we hadn’t “seen” for nearly a year. They had done the legwork, and assured us that this is a venue with true outdoor dining. How right they were. 2 Spring is a restaurant that “brings the hospitality and quality of Manhattan’s finest downtown eateries to Oyster Bay.” (website) 

They have set up a wonderful outdoor experience for their patrons. Although on the sidewalk, it has been separated from the street in such a way that you hardly notice where you are. There are tables for two and and four. Seats are covered with sheepskin or electric blankets ( as on the bench we sat on). There are heat lamps overhead, and portable table heat lamps to keep ones’ legs warm. If it gets colder there is a backup of heat lamps nearby. The finishing touch were the cuddly blankets offered to each of us to put on our laps (or anyplace else you might want one). I have to tell you that in the two hours we sat, chatted and enjoyed a wonderful brunch, none of us felt cold. Please bear in mind that you need to go prepared – don’t think that you don’t have to dress for the cold. We went  dressed for the outdoors.  I felt as though I had dressed for skiing! But, we were with friends, we were comfortable and we had a wonderful experience.

2 Spring is located in the heart of Oyster Bay. Parking must be found on the street. On this very cold, Saturday afternoon, parking was easy. If necessary, there is a municipal lot about a block away. 

Getting to our seats took a bit of maneuvering, as they are on the sidewalk, and the tables are heavy, but it is doable and the staff is very helpful. We would suggest that if getting to one of the middle tables might be a problem, just call and let them know you need a seat that is more accessible.  They assured us that they are willing to help in any way they can to make things as easy as possible. If the service we had was any indication, we can only think that they will be helpful.

Each of our brunch choices was delicious. Omelettes chocked full of crabmeat and mushrooms, lobster hash, and viennese schnitzel sandwiches were all “hits.” Our servers made sure we had everything we needed, and checked back to see if all was well.  We  were happy that all of the staff we saw had properly worn masks. I was a bit disappointed that I did not see hand-sanitizer readily available. 

We loved our outdoor dining experience, but of course I needed to check the indoors and the restrooms. The single-door, main entrance requires two steps up. There is then a small entryway and another single door. Once inside, I found a small bar area to the right and tables to the left. Although the tables have plastic between them and also behind them, I felt  that they are a bit closer than I would be comfortable with. There is a hallway to a back area where the tables seem to have more space between them. This middle area is where you will find two good-sized, unisex, handicapped-accessible, single-occupancy restrooms, with wheelchair-accessible sinks. There are no baby-changing stations.

It is important to know that if you are not good with the front steps, there is a street-level, single door in this middle area. Unfortunately it was locked. When I inquired, I was told that they will be happy to unlock it to accommodate anyone needing it. This is another of those situations were you need to know that this exists so that you can ask for it when making a reservation.

All in all we would give our experience four and a half stars. Great food, attentive service and WARMTH, made us feel “almost” back to normal. A year ago I could never have imagined that I would be happily sitting outside in 27 degrees enjoying lunch, and we weren’t even skiing in Utah!
