Ruby Foo had been one of our favorite places when headed to the theater. We were quite surprised and saddened one day to find it closed as we were meeting there for dinner. Now, in its place is Junior’s, a 49th street location that has been added to the 45th street outpost of the original Junior’s of Brooklyn fame. We decided to give it a try. They do not take reservations for parties of less than ten, but they do have “call ahead” so that one has less of a wait, which can be lengthy!
The main entrance is now a revolving door, with the single door, handicapped entrance on the 49th Street side of the building. Once inside, the welcome area is large, with seating along the left side and a busy, take-out counter to the right. A variety of seating includes booths, banquettes, a long counter, a full-height bar with two, handicapped-accessible spots, as well as tables. Some areas are more spacious than others. One area of the dining room is raised, requiring three steps up to get to your seat. Make sure to tell the host/hostess about this if it is a problem for anyone in your party. This location seems more open and spacious than the one on 45th street. It also seems to be a bit less hectic. (Just my opinion!)
Our server was an extremely friendly young man, who was very efficient as well. Our orders were perfect and of course, we could not leave without a piece of Junior’s famous cheesecake for dessert!
Multi-stall restrooms with large, handicapped-stalls are located at the end of a ramp in the rear of the main level of the dining room.
As always, we at Destination Accessible, advise you to visit a venue’s website, www.juniorscheesecake.com, when planning a visit, to know before you go.
